Conditional Sentences With Examples
Conditional Sentences are used to express what might happen in the future if a present situation remains unchanged. Using conditional sentences, we can express a possibility. Conditional sentences and types with examples will be helpful to understand them appropriately. The main idea of these sentences is that the condition becomes a reality if something happens. If you want to achieve the desired result (achieve your goal), you must first make a necessary condition true.
Types of conditional sentences In Urdu/Hindi
Conditional sentences and types with examples are common sentence structures used in English. It can be used to talk about things that are yet to happen, or things that are not certain. Conditional sentences are used in expressing a condition or a situation where one action is taken in case of another condition. A conditional sentence has two clauses or parts i.e. the main clause and the subordinate clause. In a sentence, the main clause is the part that expresses the main idea. The main clause is the only part that is expressed in the present form or in the past form. The subordinate clause is the part that is expressed in the present form or in the past form.
Definition of Conditional sentences
A conditional sentence is a type of sentence that states a condition and the outcomes of that condition occurring.
A conditional sentence has two parts :
- A condition or A situation.
- A result or outcomes or consequences.
Note: if the condition is true, then the result will happen.
If + condition + results
If he works hard, he will pass.
اگر وہ محنت کرے گا تو پاس ہوجاۓگا۔
If it rains, I will be able to not play outside.
اگر بارش ہوتی ہے تو میں باہر نہیں کھیلوں گا۔
He will pass, if he works hard.
پاس ہوجاۓگااگر وہ محنت کرے گا ۔
If I were president, I’d fix the system.
اگر میں صدر ہوتا، تو سسٹم ٹھیک کر دیتا۔
If I had listened to you, I would have passed the exam.
اگر میں آپ کی بات سنتا تو میں امتحان پاس کر لیتا۔

Definition of Zero conditionals
Zero conditional sentences describe facts or things very likely to happen. Both parts (If + condition + results ) are in the present simple (present indefinite ).
Examples
If you combine water and electricity, you get a shock.
اگر آپ پانی اور بجلی کو ملاتے ہیں تو، آپ کو جھٹکا لگتا ہے۔
You get green if you mix blue and yellow.
اگر آپ نیلے اور پیلے رنگ کو ملاتے ہیں ، تو آپ سبز حاصل کرو گے۔
If my husband cooks, he burns the food.
اگر میرا شوہر کھانا پکاتا ہے ، تو وہ کھانا جلا دیتا ہے۔
Water boils if you heat it to hundred degrees Celsius.
اگر آپ اسے سو ڈگری سینٹی گریڈ تک گرم کریں تو پانی ابلتا ہے
If babies are hungry, they cry.
اگر بچے بھوکے ہوتے ہیں تو ، وہ روتے ہیں۔
When often replaces if for zero conditionals
We can use once as a result of the result continuously happening once the condition is true.
Examples
if you mix blue and yellow, You get green.
When you mix blue and yellow, You get green.
اگر آپ نیلے اور پیلے رنگ کو ملاتے ہیں تو آپ سبز حاصل کرو گے۔
جب آپ نیلے اور پیلے رنگ کو ملاتے ہیں تو آپ سبز حاصل کرو گے۔
If you heat ice cream, it melts.
When you heat ice cream, it melts.
اگر آپ آئس کریم کو گرم کرتے ہیں تو یہ پگھل جاتی ہے۔
جب آپ آئس کریم کو گرم کرتے ہیں تو یہ پگھل جاتی ہے۔
Definition of First conditionals
First conditional sentences are used to express which outcomes are likely ( but not guaranteed) to happen in the future.
The condition is in the simple present/ present indefinite tense while the result is in the simple future tense.
Examples
If I miss the car, I will take the train.
اگر میری گاڑی چھوٹ گئی تو ، میں ٹرین پہ چلا جاؤں گا۔
If you work hard, you will pass.
محنت کرو گے تو ، پاس ہو جاؤ گے۔
He will pass if he works hard.
وہ پاس ہو جائے گا ، اگر وہ محنت کرے گا
I will call you if I am late.
اگر مجھے دیر ہوئی تو ، میں آپ کو کال کروں گا۔
If he goes he will meet him.
وہ جائے گا تو ، اس سے ملے گا۔
Definition of Second conditionals
Second conditional sentences are used to talk about unreal or impossible things.
The condition is in the simple past/ simple indefinite tense while the result uses the world.
Examples
If I won the lottery, I would buy a car.
اگر میں لاٹری جیت گیا تو ، میں ایک کار خریدوں گا۔
If she fell, she would hurt herself.
اگر وہ گر گئی تو ، وہ خود کو چوٹ لے گی۔
I would travel all over the world if I were rich.
اگر میں امیر ہوتا تو ، میں پوری دنیا کا سفر کرتا۔
If I were you, I would give up smoking.
اگر میں تمہاری طرح ہوتا تو، میںتمباکو نوشی چھوڑ دیتا۔
If he ever studied, he would pass the exam.
کبھی پڑھتا تو ، وہ امتحان پاس کرتا۔

If he were rich, he would buy an expensive car. ( True )
اگر وہ امیر ہوتا تو ، ایک مہنگی کار خریدتا۔

Definition of Third conditionals
Third conditional sentences describe something in the past which did not happen.
( If + past perfect + would have + past participle )
Examples
If he had asked me, I would have helped him.
اگر وہ مجھ سے پوچھتا تو ، میں اس کی مدد کرتا۔
If I had listened to you, I would have passed the exam.
اگر میں آپ کی بات مان لیتا تو ، میں امتحان پاس کر لیتا۔
If it had rained, you would have gotten wet.
بارش ہوتی تو ، تم بھیگ جاتے۔
She would have become a teacher if she had gone to university.
وہ یونیورسٹی جاتی تو ، ٹیچر بن جاتی۔
